Carson City Senior Center Offers Exciting March Programming: From Nutrition Workshops to Bingo Fun!
Get ready for a month of engaging activities at the Carson City Senior Center, where we are cooking up a storm with delicious workshops and intriguing talks—and oh, what a “grate” time it will be! Mark your calendars for Tuesday, March 18, 2025, because that’s when Carson Tahoe Health will dish out a scrumptious workshop focused on the ever-important topics of nutrition, mindful eating, and meal planning. Talk about food for thought! The event kicks off at 2 p.m. and will even include a Q&A session to satisfy your hunger for knowledge.
A Feast of Learning Awaits!
Can you hear that? It’s the sound of sizzling excitement! The workshop will provide attendees with the tools they need to embrace healthy eating as they age gracefully. After all, as the saying goes, “You are what you eat!” (So, please don’t be a “grouch.”) This free event is an excellent opportunity to learn tasty tips and tricks to fuel your mind and body. And a fun fact: RSVP is not needed, so just bring your appetite for knowledge—and maybe a snack!
Discovering You: A Journey of Reflection
But wait, there’s more! Prior to the cooking class (more like a “tasting session for the brain”), you can join the captivating “Exploring the Meaning of Your Life” workshop. This isn’t just any workshop; it’s a transformative 4-week journey led by award-winning writer and speaker, Theresa Danna. This free workshop takes place every Wednesday through April 2, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. drawing sketches of pivotal moments in your life—though we recommend leaving the finger paintings for your refrigerator door! Don’t worry if you lack art skills; all materials are provided. Just bring your thoughts, and call (775) 883-0703 to RSVP.
A Conversation with Jill Derby: A Not-So-Secret Recipe for Inspiration
On the same day as the workshop, dive into a different dish of wisdom with Jill Derby. This author and political activist will share her experiences at the Carson City Senior Center on March 18 at 12:30 p.m. Talk about a full plate of inspiration! Jill’s impressive background covers everything from her childhood days on the Flying Flapjack Ranch near Lovelock to her extensive political work in Nevada. You won’t want to miss the chance to connect with this seasoned leader. No RSVP required—just bring your questions and your best listening ears!
Bingo for a Cause: A Jackpot of Fun!
Looking for some thrills? Join in on the fun at the Bingo Fundraiser for Meals on Wheels! Mark your calendars for the second and fourth Sundays of the month. Doors open at 11 a.m., and the games start at 1 p.m. So, grab your dauber and some cash (no checks allowed—unfortunately, “bingo bucks” haven’t been invented yet) because you could win big while supporting a great cause. Remember, you must be 21 or older to play, but the fun is ageless!
Yoga for All: Find Your Zen
If you’re looking to stretch your body and calm your mind, look no further than the Chair Yoga Series! Join Yoga Alliance Registered Instructor Wanda La Russa every Tuesday from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. for a gentle class that enhances strength, balance, and flexibility. For just $5.00 per class, you can treat yourself to some well-deserved “me time.” No need to RSVP; just roll out your mat (or chair) and let the relaxation begin!
