PJTAU Hosts Training Programme on Nutrition and Mental Health for Agricultural Faculty

Growing Knowledge: A 21-Day Training Feast at PJTAU

Hyderabad – Buckle up, folks, because the Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University (PJTAU) has been dishing out knowledge like a farmer at a harvest festival! Over the past 21 days, educators from various agricultural, horticultural, and veterinary universities swarmed PJTAU like bees to flowers for an enriching training programme that was as colorful as a well-watered garden.

Harvesting Health: A Focus on Nutrition

At the grand finale held on Monday, PJTAU’s own Registrar Dr. Vidyasagar took to the stage with the enthusiasm of a gardener spotting the first bloom of spring. He didn’t just root for education but dug deep into the crucial role of nutrition in bolstering not just our physical health but also our mental well-being. "Nutrition is no joke," he quipped, “and without it, you might find yourself in a pickle!”

Dr. Vidyasagar pointed out a pressing issue: the overuse of pesticides that has made its way into our very own veggie gardens, tainting the produce and resulting in health hiccups. “It’s a sticky situation, but we’re here to egg-sactly tackle it,” he joked, spreading smiles as he highlighted the need for improved agricultural practices.

Mental Health Matters: A Growing Concern

As if the woes of pesticide-laden produce weren’t enough to sprout worries, Dr. Vidyasagar acknowledged a growing trend: mental health problems seem to be popping up like mushrooms after rain. He stressed the importance of counselling to help those struggling with modern-day pressures. “Let’s face it – figuring out life can be harder than getting a cat to fetch!” he chuckled, reminding everyone that support is key.

Sowing Seeds of Support for Farmers

Dr. T Sasikala, the Director of the Planning and Monitoring Cell at PJTAU, sowed more insight into the local farming community. With approximately 68 percent of farmers in Telangana being small and marginal farmers, she noted their unique vulnerability to nutritional deficiencies. “We need to serve up support tailored to their needs,” she said, sprinkling a bit of wisdom into the mix.

A Certificate for Every Comrade

The training programme was brought to fruition by the Centre for Advanced Faculty Training (CAFT) in Community Science, right from the Postgraduate Research Center at PJTAU. With certificates in hand — or perhaps “in pea pod” for the vegetable enthusiasts — Dr. Vidyasagar distributed accolades to the eager participants who, like diligent students tending to their blooms, soaked in every lesson.

The event was attended by a hearty crowd, including Dr. Vijayalakshmi, the Dean of Community Science, and various faculty members, including Dr. T Supraja, CAFT Director, Dr. Sreedevi, course coordinator, along with Dr. Janaki Sreenath and Dr. Swaroopa Rani. It all went down at the Knowledge Management Centre Hall, the university’s very own treasure trove of wisdom!

Conclusion: Cheers to Growth!

As this robust training programme wraps up, it’s clear that the seeds of knowledge planted at PJTAU will flourish far beyond the campus. With continued focus on health, nutrition, and mental well-being, the future is looking as bright as a sunflower reaching for the sun.

Just remember: wherever you are, keep positive feeds flowing – after all, healthy minds grow in fruitful environments! They say, “You can’t reap if you don’t sow!” So let’s keep the learning going – and we’ll all be in for a fruitful harvest!
