Well, folks, hold on to your shopping carts because Big Lots is back and they’re making a grand entrance on April 10! After a year of eerily empty aisles and desolate parking lots, this beloved discount retailer is rolling out their welcome mats and sparking joy once again—no need for a “Welcome Back, Kotter” soundtrack, but feel free to hum it anyway!
Under the umbrella of new ownership, Big Lots has dusted off its shelves and given its store a much-needed facelift, inviting us back into its budget-friendly wonderland. The first phase of reopening kicks off with a select ensemble of nine stores across six different states—yes, they are taking the “big” in Big Lots literally! Now that’s what I call big news!
So what’s behind this big comeback? Well, it turns out that Variety Wholesalers, a retailing powerhouse hailing from North Carolina, has decided to breathe new life into around 200 former Big Lots locations. They struck a deal with the liquidation firm Gordon Brothers that would put a pep back in the step of shoppers nationwide! It’s good to see someone has a knack for resuscitating retailers—talk about an “app-lift!”
With renovations that would make even a DIY fanatic green with envy, these stores have been getting a makeover like Kardashians at an awards show. We’re talking about deep cleaning (they’ve scrubbed more floors than a clumsy janitor), interior updates that make the stores sparkle brighter than a fresh wax job, and new products that will have you saying, “I’ll take that…and that…and ooh, don’t forget that!”
Here’s the VIP lineup of the first stores set to make their comeback tour:
-
Kentucky: Mount Sterling (Indian Mound Dr) – because who could resist shopping in a town with “Mound” in its name?
-
Louisiana: Metairie (Veterans Memorial Blvd) – putting the Y’all back in shopping!
-
Mississippi: Tupelo (W Main St) and Pearl (Hwy 80 E) – they’re not just a “pearl” of the South; they’re shining again!
-
North Carolina: Asheboro (E Dixie Dr) – home of the Stinging Roses, I mean, who wouldn’t want to shop there?
-
Tennessee: Clarksville (S Riverside Dr), Gallatin (Nashville Pike), and Dickson (Dickson Plaza Dr) – music may live in Nashville, but the deals come alive at Big Lots!
-
Virginia: Roanoke (Hershberger Rd NW) – it’s time to “Roan”-er into Big Lots!
And if you’re thinking, “Wow, that’s just the beginning!” you’d be right! The next wave of reopenings, which will be like wave two of an epic movie sequel nobody saw coming, includes around 70 additional locations slated to open on May 1, and even more coming down the line. Get your calendars out because reopening isn’t just for doors; it’s a whole adventure!
Additional locations to follow will be popping up in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and West Virginia to help you get your “Big” fix. When they say, “Go big or go home,” it seems they really mean it.
As we gear up for the grand reopen on April 10, let’s all tip our hats (or shopping hats) to the return of Big Lots—a beacon of budget-friendly bliss! Remember, every penny saved is a penny earned… to spend on more “household essentials!” And if they ask for merchandise, just tell them you’re “lot” of fun!
So here’s to Big Lots, bolder than ever! Grab those comfy shoes, and prepare to do some serious shopping! Just remember: when life gives you lemons, make lemonade—but if it gives you discounts, shop till you drop!
